On Eng. Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received Mr. Andy Brown, Upstream International Director of Royal Dutch Shell during his current visit to Cairo, in the presence of Aidan Murphy, Shell Egypt Vice President and Sami Iskander, Executive Vice President of Joint Ventures, Royal Dutch Shell. During the meeting, they discussed supporting and promoting investment opportunities in the fields of oil and gas exploration and production, as well as reviewing the status of the projects carried out by Shell, currently, in Egypt.
The Minister clarified that Shell has increased its investments in its concession areas in the Western Desert during the last fiscal year with 15% over the planned, to reach about $450 million. In addition to, the recent acquisition of BG’s assets at the Mediterranean region. For his part, Andy Brown stressed that investment opportunities in the Egyptian market is still promising, particularly after gas discoveries that have recently been achieved either in the Mediterranean or in the Western Desert. |
