The Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency (EgyptERA) will launch the European Union (EU) Twinning project in partnership with the Regulatory Authority for Energy of the Hellenic Republic (RAE), and the Italian Regulatory Authority for Electricity, Gas, and Water (AEEGSI), a statement by the EU delegation to Egypt said.
The project comes as part of efforts to develop the Egyptian electricity sector under the auspices of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy and the Support of the Association Agreement Program (SAAP) of the Ministry of International Cooperation, with funding from the European Union. It will be implemented over 23 months with a budget of 1,225,000 Euros. The project aims to offer technical support to Egypt’s electricity and power sector, through contributing to the institutional reform and modernization of the Egyptian public administration. The project will also improve the business climate for investment in the electricity and energy sector in Egypt, which helps to improve the service provided to consumers.
