SHELL MARKETING EGYPT
Since the mid 1970s, Shell Chemicals Overseas - SCS(O) - a representative office representing SITCO, SCITCO and SICC - has handled Shell downstream businesses in Egypt regarding chemicals, lubricants and additives. In May 1990, Shell Marketing Egypt (SME) was registered with the objective of handling all downstream oil operations including retail, lubricants, aviation, and bunkers.
Over the past 10 years, SME has accomplished a number of critical business achievements:
Lubricant Oil Blending Plant (LOBP):
In 1994, the LOBP was inaugurated in the 6th October city to meet the local market demand for Shell industrial, reseller and retail lubricants. In 1999, more investment had been injected in the plant, which resulted in increasing the total production capacity to reach 70,000 MT/year.
Retail: By the fourth quarter of 2003, SME reached a Retail Network of 60 Shell service stations throughout Egypt. Our stations are offering clients an unsurpassed service through abiding by Shell Retail practice standards. Also, we have Shell shops offering a variety of convenient products & branded lube bays that offer high quality service and free checks to our customers.
Depot: A new depot was opened at Mostorod in 2001 to provide and secure fuel supply to Retail Stations and key commercial customers, reinforced with highest technology of fully automated fire system.
Export: SME has achieved an outstanding performance on its portfolio of exports to East Africa.
ISO: SME has successfully obtained ISO 9002 (Quality) and ISO 14001 (Environment) Certificates. This has enabled SME to be regarded as the first Shell OP among the African continent of having both at the same time
