The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co (EGAS) pumps a considerable volume of gas to service stations as motor vehicles gas consumption reached 102bcf of natural gas in May, averaging 47mcf/d.
However, cars consumption of natural gas is not huge in comparison to household and industrial consumption. It becomes even more insignificant when compared to the gas supplies for electricity production. Meanwhile, household consumption of gas decreased in May by 3bcf, reaching an estimated 6.5bcf, averaging 209mcf/d. In earlier news, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum announced that the gas consumption of power plants had increased to 3.4bcf/d, up from 3.3bcf/d and that the ministry is providing power plants with 29,000t of oil and 4,000t of diesel to cover their daily energy needs.
