Enterprise Nationale Sonatrech is the national oil company of Algeria, founded in 1963. It is responsible for the management of the country's oil industry, which encompasses organization of Algerian exploration, production, transport, refining, processing, marketing and distribution of oil, gas and related products. Included in this portfolio is management of exploration bidding rounds for oil and gas. Sonotrach also has an important role in the chemicals industry of Algeria, owning fertilizer plants and petrochemical facilities.
