The Egyptian Natural Gas Company (GASCO) was established in March 1997 according to Investment Law No. 230 for 1989 amended by Law No 8 for 1997 to be a go-between upstream gas producers and downstream gas producers. GASCO started activities with a clear vision and a national mission focused on the management, operation, maintenance, upgrading, development and modernization of the national gas grid, as well as, processing and recovery of gas valuable components. GASCO Shares are held by: EGPC 70%, Petrojet 15% and Egypt Gas 15%

GASCO objectives include construction, manufacture, management and ownership of pipelines, buildings, facilities for natural gas usage, distribution, and marketing, buying natural gas and reselling it to both local & international consumers. Also GASCO focuses on the development of the natural gas grid, as well as, processing and recovery of gas components. Major products of GASCO are Sales Gas with a capacity of 470 million feet/day, Ethane/Propane gas mixture (C2/C3) with a capacity of 470 thousand tons/year, Commercial Propane with a capacity of 200 thousand tons/year, LPG with a capacity of 250 thousand tons/year and Condensate with a capacity of 260 thousand barrels/year.
