BP has completed more than 40 years of successful oil and gas operations in Egypt. During this time, it has been responsible for almost 40% of Egypt’s entire oil production and invested close to $14 billion, making it the single largest foreign investor in the country.
BP’s partnership with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) has made its joint venture, the Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO), an industry leader and one of the largest oil and gas operations in the entire region. Since the 1960s, GUPCO has been at the heart of operations in the Gulf of Suez, the Western Desert and, more recently, the Nile Delta.
Products/Services overview
BP main activities are focused around the Exploration and Production business stream. BP is aiming to create a new profit centre in the Nile Delta by supplying 50% of all new markets from concessions in which it operate. Also it is aiming to deliver natural gas to the SEGAS LNG plant in Damietta, the first liquefied natural gas plant in Egypt.
BP’s joint venture United Gas Derivatives Company (UGDC) owns and operates the largest natural gas liquids (NGL) plant in Egypt. BP also own 40% percent of the Natural Gas Vehicles Company (NGVC). NGVC operates 51 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations across Egypt.
