Minister of Petroleum Tareq el Mulla and Chairman and CEO of Schlumberger Paal Kibsgaard witnessed the inking of three memorandums of understanding for cooperation in the fields of training, workplace safety and vocational health and provision of equipment of gas and petroleum projects.
Kibsgaard asserted the importance of Egypt's role as a regional center of trade and exchanging gas and crude oil. The first MoU stipulates that Schlumberger, the world's largest oilfield services company, implement several training programs for fresh graduates of engineers and geologists in administrative, leading and technical skills, according to a statement of the Ministry of Petroleum. The second memo is related to cooperation and exchanging expertise in the fields of workplace safety and vocational health to improve work performance, the statement said. The third memorandum aims at supporting cooperation between Petrojet company and Schlumberger in projects of petroleum, gas and petrochemicals especially in the fields of manufacturing of static equipment and facilitating early production, the statement added. Mulla asserted the importance of the role of international major companies in the success achieved in the petroleum sector and training Egyptian cadres. After the meeting, Mulla and Kibsgaard visited the newest complex of Schlumberger company which boasts the latest technologies. Mulla said that the coming period will witness more cooperation with Schlumberger company especially in the project of setting up an Egyptian portal to market targeted petroleum exploration areas and another project that is being implemented in the Red Sea and southern Egypt to gather geophysical data.
