Egypt's petroleum ministry said a new well at the offshore Noros field is expected to produce 180 million cubic feet of gas and 1,500 barrels of condensate per day, a statement by the ministry read.

The ministry statement added that there are 14 producing gas wells in this area with a total production of 1.2 billion cubic feet, about 8,500 barrels of gas condensate per day, and 115 tons of gas per day.

All works of the drilling for the well have been completed and the production lines will be linked to the production facilities in a period of time that will not exceed two months, according to the statement.

Petrobel-Belayim is the Egyptian petroleum company which is managing the projects in the Nile Delta area.

The statement added that the total amount of oil and gas produced by the Petrobel-Belayim company is 600,000 barrels per day.

Noroos gas field was discovered in August 2015. The field is being developed by Italian oil and gas giant Eni and British Petroleum.

Egypt has been seeking to speed up production from recently discovered fields, with an eye to halting imports by 2019 and achieving self-sufficiency.
