Siemens has appointed Emad Ghaly as Chief Executive Officer of Siemens S.A.E. in Egypt, effective July 1, 2016. Based in Cairo, Ghaly takes over from Maximilian Egger who will retire, end of September, after a distinguished 40-year career at Siemens.
Ghaly, an Egyptian national, is a 21-year veteran of the company, and was most recently the Senior Executive Vice President for Wind Power and Renewables in the Middle East, and for Power and Gas for Siemens in Egypt. His career at Siemens started in 1995, and since then has held several senior managerial positions across a wide range of businesses, including telecommunications, information technology, strategic planning, and corporate development and government affairs. Ghaly brings a broad international experience. Prior to his role as Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Government Affairs in Egypt, he served as the Director of Regional Sales for Northern and Western Europe where he has contributed to development of Siemens’ business in Germany, the UK, Ireland and The Netherlands. “Egypt is a highly dynamic market, and I am pleased to welcome Emad to this important role. His local and international experience across different business segments and markets, particularly in Egypt, is a valuable asset, as we continue to accelerate growth through our Vision 2020 and support Egypt’s economic development needs.” said Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO of Siemens Middle East and UAE. “Maximilian has made numerous contributions to our company during his four decades at Siemens. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his commitment and dedication.” “I joined Siemens 20 years ago because I wanted to be part of a company that is fiercely committed to catering for the local market, customers, and employees. Today, I am even more convinced that Siemens is that company,” said Ghaly. “I am honored to lead Siemens in Egypt. We will continue to do what we do best: supporting Egypt’s economic development with intelligent infrastructure, sustainable energy and advanced manufacturing solutions, alongside knowledge transfer.” Ghaly received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Ain Shams University, and completed his MBA at the American University in Cairo in 2002. He became a Member of the Advisory Board of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency for the Middle East and North Africa (Remena) in 2011, and served as a board member of the Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB) from 2011 through 2015.
