Amr Mostafa, vice president of the General Petroleum Authority, said the quantities of diesel fuel injected into the market everyday were raised from 38,000 tons to 40,000 tons as of 18 February.
“We took into account the start of the schools,” he said. “That is why we saw some queuing in front of gas stations because school buses were fueling.” He also said that farmers store large quantities of diesel fuel for the harvest season that starts in April, which is why the authority will continue to provide more tons. He said that there are three ships at the ports of Suez and Alexandria that are loaded with fuel, and that contracts for more quantities are underway. “I say there is no problem with diesel fuel,” he said.
