Jordan is waving with the card of replacing its imports of natural gas from Egypt, shut down due to dirty terrorist acts over the past 9 to 10 months (in El Arish) more than 9 times, with an alternative arrangement to receive Qatari gas. That was reported in the media quoting Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Wealth indicating the issue awaits the outcome of a feasibility study being prepared now.
N.B. While observers fully respect Jordan's legitimate rights to preserve its national energy security, irrespective of cost considerations, and it is greatly hoped from certain Egyptian political powers to consider the crucial importance of protecting the intake of the pipeline and related booster stations on Egyptian territories to safeguard the national economy. The Fact remains that Jordan has already endorsed amended gas export prices agreement inclusive of its application retro actively as of 1/1/2011. |
